The Religion of an Atheist -10 Guru గురువు

Dispeller of Ignorance / Darkness is apparently one of the etimologies of Guru. I always used to talk about the 24 Gurus of Dattatreya. Today, I understood that till now I only "knew" but did not "understood" what he meant by 24 animate and inanimates being his gurus.

And my intellect questions me, Are you respecting him with the same respect that you think you will give a "Real Guru"? Knowing his escapades? Does he deserve respect for the dispelling of my knowledge and if yes, how should that respect diminish because of his personal life?

If I am a "real student" I should be focussed only on my "Understanding and Progress" and nothing else, I will respect whoever helps me with the Understanding and Progress. If I am not a "real student" then other things come into my mind.

So, it is not a real guru / unreal guru who determines the amount of respect he commands.......it is me, a Non Real / Real student who determines the bhava/gravity/degree of Respect that I accord to the dispellers of my ignorance/darkness. Or even more truthfully, it is my Ignorance /Darkness.
